Women's Basketball Travels To The BIG EAST Tournament

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami women’s basketball team travels to Piscataway, NJ to participate in the 2003 BIG EAST Tournament. The Hurricanes face Syracuse at 6 p.m. Saturday night in the first round of the tournament in Louis Brown Athletic Center on the campus of Rutgers University.
Miami seeded seventh in the tournament finished the regular season with a 16-11 overall record and a mark of 8-8 in the BIG EAST.
The No. 10 seeded Orangewoman wrapped up the regular season with a record of 10-17 overall and 5-11 in conference. Since joining the BIG EAST, the Hurricanes are 12-9 (.571) in tournament games.
Miami is 4-2 all-time in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
Miami leads the all-time series 14-6 over the Orangewomen. Miami has won seven of the last 10 meetings, including the two of the last three. The Hurricanes have never faced SU on neutral ground. Four of the last five meetings have been decided by four points or less.
Miami and Syracuse split the regular season series. Miami won the first meeting 85-68 in Syracuse and lost the second meeting 62-59 in Coral Gables.
