Women's Basketball Travels To Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY-The Miami women’s basketball team looks to extend its win-streak to seven in a row travelling to face Syracuse Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at Manley Field House.
Miami (9-3, 1-0 in conference) is coming off of a 60-57 road victory over Georgetown in its BIG EAST opener Saturday night.
The Orangewomen (5-7, 0-1 in conference) fell 73-63 at Virginia Tech in their conference opener Saturday night.
The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 13-5 and have won the last four out of five meetings between the two teams.
Miami beat SU 75-71 in overtime in Coral Gables last season. The last three games have been decided by four points or less.
Two Miami players are averaging in double-digits, freshman Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) is leading the way with 24.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. Junior Shaquana Wilkins (Plymouth, Fla.) also averages in double-digits with 10.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
James earned BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the fourth time this season this week after helping Miami to victory over Georgetown. She had her fourth double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds. James hit 9-of-16 field goals and her 3-pointer in the final minute earned the Hurricanes their sixth straight win.
Syracuse is without leading scorer Shannon Perry; she leads the team 17.5 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. Perry was declared academically ineligible in the contest with Virginia Tech.
Julie McBride averages 17.0 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. SU is 2-3 at home this season.
