Tamara James Earns BIG EAST Honors

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Freshman Tamara James was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after leading the Miami women’s basketball team to a 3-0 week.

James (Dania, Fla.) averaged 27.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 4.0 steals.

In an 86-61 win over Florida Atlantic, she netted 25 points had nine rebounds and seven steals.

James recorded her third double-double of the season with 33 points and 11 boards in an 84-58 victory over Texas A&M.

She closed the week with 24 points; eight rebounds and three steals in the Hurricanes’ (6-3) 85-66 home win against Eastern Michigan.

James shot 64.6 percent (31-48) from the field and 85.7 percent (18-21) from the free throw line in the three games.

She has been UM’s high scorer in every game this season.

The Hurricanes are back in action Dec. 28-29 hosting the Gatorade Holiday Classic.
