Women's Basketball Downs FAU, 86-61

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami women’s basketball team remains undefeated against Florida Atlantic after an 86-61 victory over the visiting Owls Monday night in Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes (4-3) snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 14-0 in the all-time series over FAU.
The Owls remain winless falling to 0-7 on the season.
Freshman Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) scored a game-high 25 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals to lead the Hurricanes to victory over FAU.
Junior Shaquana Wilkins (Plymouth, Fla.) recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) scored 13 points along with six steals, while Yalonda McCormick (Miami, Fla.) dished out nine assists.
The two teams traded baskets over the first four minutes of the game until Miami went on a 16-2 run to gain the 13-point lead with 12 minutes remaining in the half.
The Hurricanes continued to dominate offensively never losing the double-digit lead taking a 21-point advantage (46-25) into the locker room at halftime.
Miami proved too much for the Owls in the second half leading by as many as 39 points.
The Hurricanes shot 48% from the field, while the Owls shot 30% on the night.
Miami turned the ball over 35 times, while FAU committed 37 turnovers. The Hurricanes had a season-high 30 steals on the night.
Miami is back in action hosting Texas A&M Thursday night at 7 p.m.
