Women's Basketball Advances To Championship Game

GREEN BAY, Wis.-Freshman Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) scored 36 points in 29minutes to lead the Miami women’s basketball team to an 87-56 victory overQuinnipiac in the first round of the Wisconsin-Green Bay Tournament in GreenBay, Wis. Friday night.
The Hurricanes will face the winner of the Green Bay/SoutheastMissouri State game in the Championship game at 4 p.m. EST Saturday.The championship game will be broadcast live on WVUM (90.5 FM) or via theinternet at hurricanesports.com.
James scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the first halfalone. She finished the game 15-of-20 from the field with 10 rebounds,recording her second double-double in three games.
The 36 points scored by James is the most points scored by aHurricane since Francis Savage scored 36 against Villanova in 1992. The Hurricanes opened the game on a 5-0 run and never lost the lead,leading by 24 points at halftime with the score 55-31.
Miami controlled the tempo of the game and continued to build on itsdouble digit lead winning by a 31-point margin of victory.
Senior Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) led the team with sevensteals and six blocked shots. Shaquana Wilkins (Plymouth, Fla.) scored 10points, while Hutashi Wilson (Toronto, Canada) added nine points.
Miami shot 53.8% from the field, while the Bobcats shot 31.4% fromthe field.
