CORAL GABLES, Fla.-BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Tamara James (Dania, Fla.) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Miami women’s basketball team to a, 111-44, victory over visiting Morris Brown Monday night at Knight Sports Complex.

The Hurricanes improve to 2-0 on the season while the Wolverines fall to 0-2. The 111 points scored are the most points tallied by the Hurricanes since a 109-56 victory over Florida International Jan. 27, 1981.

James was 12-of-15 from the field, pulled down nine rebounds and picked up five steals in 20 minutes of action.

Five Hurricanes scored in double-digits behind James, Meghan Saake (17), Katie Hayek (12), Melissa Knight (11) and Hutashi Wilson (11).

Shaquana Wilkins grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds and added nine points in 17 minutes of action.

Alicia Hartlaub recorded three blocked shots along with eight points and eight rebounds.

The Hurricanes were two points shy of breaking the single-game record for most points scored in a game. The record stands at 112 points scored against Stetson on Jan. 12, 1991.

Miami shot 61% from the field, compared to 29% for the Wolverines.

The Hurricanes return to action Friday travelling to participate in the Wisconsin-Green Bay Tournament.
