Women's Basketball Opens The 2002-03 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The Miami women’s basketball team will open the 2002-03 season against South Florida Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Knight Sports Complex on the UM campus.
Miami will face South Florida for the 38th time and looks to win its sixth consecutive season opener. The Hurricanes are 22-8 all-time in season openers and 26-11 versus USF.
Miami looks to avenge a 76-68 loss to the Bulls in Tampa, Fla. last season.
Miami returns nine letterwinners, including four starters from last year’s 19-12 club.
Head coach Ferne Labati enters her 15th season at the helm of the Hurricane basketball program. Labati is the all-time winningest basketball coach at Miami with a record of 250-159.
The game will be broadcast live on WVUM (90.5 FM).

In conjunction with the Miami Athletic Department and the Women’s Basketball team, the Daily Bread Food Bank will be sponsoring a food drive during the first two women’s basketball games.
Fans who bring two non-perishable food items to the Knight Sports Complex the day of the women’s games on Nov. 22 and Nov. 25 can purchase a special discounted ticket for only $3 (regularly $7).
