Austin, TX (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami freshman Amber Williams (Succasunna, NJ) finished seventh in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 4,833 points Thursday at the 75th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, TX.
Williams, who set the school-record in the pentathlon during the indoor season, surpassed the old record of 4,641 points set by Lori Budd during the 1995 season.
In other action, junior Jamillah Wade (Philadelphia, PA) took first in her heat of the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.93. Despite the first-place finish, Wade failed to qualify for the final.
The Hurricanes will continue competition Friday with the preliminaries of the 4×100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay, along with the finals of the sprint medley relay, long jump and triple jump.
