Women's Basketball Beats St. John's, 68-51

JAMAICA, NY-The Miami women’s basketball team extends its win streak to three in a row with a, 68-51, victory over St. John’s Wednesday night in Alumni Hall.
The Hurricanes improve to 12-6 overall and 5-3 in the BIG EAST, while the Red Storm fall to 3-15 overall and 0-7 in conference.
Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) led Miami with 17 points, including hitting six-of-seven from the free throw line.
Miami led by only one-point (29-28) at halftime. The game was tied six times and the lead changed 12 times with Miami holding the largest lead of four points with 6:08 on the clock.
The Hurricanes came out strong in the second half making a 13-0 run with 9:43 remaining in the game to take a 20-point lead.
Shaquana Wilkins (Plymouth, Fla.) scored 11 of her 13 total points in the second half. Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) added 12 points in 20 minutes of action.
Melissa Knight (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Alicia Hartlaub (Schaefferstown, Pa.) pulled down eight rebounds a piece.
Miami shot 38% from the field, compared to 32% for the Red Storm. The Hurricanes picked up 16 steals forcing 25 SJU turnovers.
The Hurricanes return to Knight Sports Complex facing Rutgers at 7 p.m. Saturday night.
