Women's Basketball Plays Host To Notre Dame

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-The Miami women’s basketball team will resume BIG EAST play hosting the defending National Champions Notre Dame Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Knight Sports Complex.

The Hurricanes enter the contest 8-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play after beating BIG EAST opponent West Virginia on Dec. 4.

Notre Dame is 6-5 overall and will open their BIG EAST portion of the schedule with Miami.

The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series 2-10. Miami has not beaten Notre Dame since the one-point (77-76) victory in Coral Gables during the 1997-98 season.

The Hurricanes had their five-game win streak snapped by visiting Minnesota Sunday afternoon in an 80-65 defeat.

Notre Dame is coming off of a 79-50 win over DePaul on Sunday afternoon.

The Fighting Irish are 0-4 on the road, while Miami is 6-1 at home.

Junior Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) continues to lead the Hurricanes averaging 12.6 points per game. Sophomore Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) follows closely behind averaging 11.6 points per game.

The Fighting Irish also have two players averaging in double-digits with Jacquelin Batteast averaging 15.5 points and Alicia Ratay scoring 12.8 per game.The game will be broadcast live on WVUM (90.5 FM) or via the internet at hurricanesports.com.
