Women's Basketball Cruises Past FAU, 92-77

BOCA RATON, Fla.-Meghan Saake scored a career-high 24 points to lead the University of Miami women’s basketball team to a 92-77 victory over Florida Atlantic Saturday afternoon at FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton, Fla.
Miami (6-2) wins its third straight game, while FAU falls to 2-5 on the season. The Hurricanes remain a perfect 13-0 all-time against the Owls.
The Hurricanes forced FAU into 31 turnovers, which converted into 39 of Miami’s 92 points.
Miami used a second-half surge, shooting 64% from the field to run away with the game, after trailing by two points (40-38) at halftime.
Both teams played poorly in the first half combining for a total of 27 turnovers. The game was tied seven different times with the lead changing 13 times.
Miami had the largest lead of the half at 5:30, until FAU went on an 8-0 run over the last few minutes to take the lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Hurricanes came out on fire the second half with Saake leading the way with 18 second-half points.
UM shot 75% from the three-point line making five-of-seven in the second period alone. Sheila James drained three three-pointers, finishing with 16 points.
Five Miami players scored in double-digits including, Kathryn Fowler (12), Alicia Hartlaub (11) and Shaquana Wilkins (10).
Miami shot 56% from the field for the game, compared to 44% for the Owls.
The Hurricanes are back in action hosting the Gatorade Holiday Classic, Dec. 27-28.
