Women's Basketball Defeats Northwestern, 86-69

CORAL GABLES, Fla.-Hutashi Wilson (Ontario, Canada) scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Miami women’s basketball team to a 86-69 victory over Northwestern Wednesday night.
Miami improves to 2-0 on the season, while Northwestern falls to 0-2 on the season.
Four UM players scored in double-digits, including Alicia Hartlaub (Schafferstown, Pa.) with 18, Sheila James (Orlando, Fla.) with 16 and Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) with 14 points.
Hartlaub committed her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hurricanes opened the game on a 6-0 run and kept the lead for the entire game.
Miami’s largest lead of the first half was 12 points with 6:26 left to play, the Wildcats went on a 9-0 run to cut UM’s lead to three with 4:16 left in the half.
The Hurricanes took a four-point lead into the locker room at half time, leading the Wildcats, 39-35.
Miami came out on top, opening the second half with a 9-0 run, taking a 13-point lead over NU with 16:43 remaining in the game.
The Hurricanes continued to dominate the game, forcing 22 Northwestern turnovers, winning by a margin of 17 points.
Emily Butler scored a game-high 20 points in the losing effort.
The Hurricanes are back in action Friday night playing host to IUPUI.
