A: The Chair of the BCS is rotated among the Commissioners of the six member conferences. Currently, John Swoford, Commissioner of the ACC is serving as Chair. No conflict.
Q: From Martin Wollner, Miami Florida: I have been a college football fan for 46 years, and going to Canes games for 37 years. I have never known or heard why schedules are made up so many years in advance. Can you shed some light on this subject. See you in Pasadena!!!!!!!!!!
A: Schedules are made 5 to 10 years in advance of a game being played. The reasons for this are many. Among those reasons are: need for advanced planning, need for advanced ticket sales, also many teams desire to do so, so the rest must keep up.
Q: From Michael Weis, Laguna Beach, CA: Hello, Paul:I was a player for the UM men’s soccer team in the seventies and later went on to the Olympic team and played pro. I am now a USSF “B” coach.
I was very dismayed when UM killed the men’s soccer program. When will UM again field a men’s Div 1 soccer team?
A: At the present time we have no plans to restart our men’s soccer team.
Q: From Fran Delaney, Orlando, FL: Mr. Dee, What are the chances of us going to another conference. I am tired of hearing how bad the Big East is. Is there anything in the future for the Canes and a new conference?
A: Presently, there are no plans for the University to change conferences. We’re trying to build a solid Big East Conference. Temple will be leaving by 2005 and the other teams are becoming more competitive each year. You can see how good Virginia Tech, Syracuse and BC are doing this season.
Q: From Art Castellanos, Ft. myers, fl:The thursday night games are very difficult to go to (7 pm kickoff), because of working during the week.Don’t you make more money on saturday games so that more fans could attend?Why do we have Thursday games?Thanksa (die hard)cane fan
A: We’d prefer to play Saturdays. Unfortunately, our TV contracts allow for the rescheduling of games to Thursdays. This season ESPN picked two. I’m sorry for the problems these changes have caused you.
