It's A Sweep: UM Defeats BCC, 3-0

Coral Gables, Fla. – Miami swept visiting Bethune-Cookman, 3-0 (30-20,30-16 & 30-25) on Sunday afternoon to secure its ninth-straight win.
The Hurricanes (15-7 overall) improve to an impressive 12-1 in front of the homecrowd at the Knight Complex.
Junior outside hitter Marcela Gamarra (Medellin, Colombia) again paced UM with15 kills, two serving aces and seven digs. Gamarra has scored 10 or more killsin 19 of Miami’s 22 matches this season.
Freshman setter Jamie Grass (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) had a team-high 10 digsand contributed 15 assists.
Head coach Nicole Lantagne utilized her bench in the match with freshmen ChristinaHernandez (Oswego, Ill.), Ashley Youngs (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and sophomoreCourtney Berg (Phoenix, Ariz.) seeing extensive action.
“It was a great opportunity to get everyone some playing time,” said Lantagne.”I thought we had some really nice performances off the bench. Courtney Berg camein and played great for us. She sparked us when we were struggling in game two.”
Berg finished the match with one kill and two block assists.
The Hurricanes return to action on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. in their last homematch of the season to take on Florida Atlantic. FAU defeated Miami, 3-0, in BocaRaton earlier this season and is the only rematch for UM on its 2001 schedule.
“It’s going to be fun to play them again,” said Lantagne. “We don’t feel likewe gave them our best effort at their place. Its a chance for us to show themwho we are and what we’re all about. We’re playing so well now — our team’s reallyfired up to get a second shot at them.”
