Tallahassee, Fla. – (www.hurricanesports.com) – Miami fell to rival FloridaState 0-3 (16-30, 16-30 & 21-30) Tuesday evening in front of 563 fans at TullyGym in Tallahassee. The match was televised live by the Sunshine Network.

The Hurricanes drop to 6-6 overall. Florida State improves to 4-7 (2-2 ACC) withthe win.

Tuesday night’s match was the first between the rivals since 1981. FSU leads theall-time series with Miami 12-8.

FSU’s Norisha Campbell (Universal City, Texas) led all scorers with 14 kills on18 attacks (.722). For the Hurricanes, Marcela Gamarra (Medellin, Colombia) hadeight kills on 22 attacks (.227). Freshman middle blocker Sandra Totten (Thermal,Calif.) scored six kills on 22 attacks (.136) with three digs and three blockassists.

As a team, the Seminoles had a .367 attack percentage to .020 for Miami. FSU had43 digs to Miami’s 23 and 15 team blocks to UM’s five.

Defensively, Florida State’s Erica Bunch had a match-high 12 digs. UM’s Gamarrahad five digs and two block assists. Freshman setter Mallorey James (Tucson, Ariz.)contributed 19 assists, three digs and one kill.

The Hurricanes play at Florida International on Friday, October 5th, to completea four-match road swing. The UM-FIU match was rescheduled in the wake of the terroristattacks on September 11th.

Miami’s next home contest is against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane on Thursday, October11th, at 7 p.m.
