Raquel Scott Named May Academic All-Star

Raquel Scott is a standout track and field athlete at the University of Miami and has been named the May 2001 Academic All-Star. The International Finance and Marketing major maintains a 3.629 GPA and is one the Hurricanes’ top triple jumpers. This summer she will represent UM as an intern at NIKE in Beaverton, OR.

Scott has been one of the top finishers at the BIG EAST Championships the last three seasons including a 7th-place finish in the triple jump at the 2001 BIG EAST Indoor Championships, a 5th-place in the triple jump at the 2000 BIG EAST Indoor Championships and a 5th-place finish in the triple jump at the 1999 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships.

This season Scott ranks fourth on the team in the long jump and third on the team in the triple jump.
