Women's Basketball Defeats Pittsburgh, 96-69

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Amanda Papuga (Oak Brook, Ill.) came off of the bench to lead the University of Miami women’s basketball team with 16 points and seven assists in a 96-69 downing of visiting Pittsburgh Saturday night at the Knight Sports Complex.
Miami improves to 13-11 overall and 6-7 in the BIG EAST, while the Panthers fall to 9-16 overall and 3-11 in conference play.
For the first time this season, the entire bench played and scored. Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) scored 15 points, while Alicia Hartlaub (Schaefferstown, Pa.) and Dalia Clarke (Antigua, West Indies) added 13 points apiece.
The Hurricanes opened the game on a 6-0 run and did not lose the lead for the remainder of the game.
Clarke made a layup at 14:06 to put Miami on top 17-6, the Hurricanes would maintain a double-digit lead the entire game.
Miami took a 47-27 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Hurricanes shot 51.4% in the first half and 48.7% for the game, compared to 41.4% for the Panthers.
Miami is back in action Tuesday at 7 p.m. traveling to face No. 1 Notre Dame.
