Women's Basketball Plays Host To Georgetown

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team looks to snap a five-game losing streak as they play host to Georgetown University for a BIG EAST matchup Saturday night at 7 p.m. at Knight Sports Complex.

Miami (9-10 overall, 2-6 in the BIG EAST) enters the contest tied for 10th place in the BE standings with West Virginia, while Georgetown (13-7 overall, 5-4 in the BE) is currently in seventh place.

Miami owns a 9-7 advantage in the all-time series with the Hoyas. Georgetown has won three of the last four meetings. Miami is 5-4 all-time when playing GU in Knight Sports Complex.

The Hurricanes fell, 84-74, on the road to Pittsburgh Tuesday night. The team’s leading scorer, Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) led Miami with a career-high 20 points and eight rebounds. She averages 12.8 points per game to lead the UM offense.

The Hoyas are coming off of an 88-64 win over West Virginia Wednesday night. Katie Smrcka-Duffy leads Georgetown averaging 17.2 points per game, while Rebekkah Brunson leads the team with 8.9 rebounds per game.

The game will air on Fox SportsNet Sunday at 8 p.m.
