Jan. 25, 2001
CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) has joined forces with the American Cancer Society in the fight against cancer through the Coaches vs. Cancer program.
In support of Coaches vs. Cancer, the University of Miami Women’s Basketball program will be collecting donations at the following women’s basketball games: February 3rd vs. Georgetown, February 7th vs. West Virginia, and Feb. 14th vs. St. John’s.
Coaches vs. Cancer was established in 1993 and in March 1999, Coaches vs. Cancer extended its reach and the WBCA became a partner of the program. The American Cancer Society is the nation’s largest not-for-profit health organization and for the past 87 years has worked diligently to find a cure for cancer.
Coaches vs. Cancer is dedicated to defeating cancer by creating awareness and using contributions raised to help fund cancer research, prevention education, advocacy and patient services offered by the American Cancer Society.
In correlation with the Valentines Day theme, you will be able to personalize a heart in exchange for your donation. The hearts will be displayed on the wall in the Knight Sports Complex. Please help the University of Miami Women’s Basketball in their effort to support the American Cancer Society.
