Women's Basketball Plays Host To Providence

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team looks to continue on the winning path playing host to Providence College Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes enter the contest 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the BIG EAST, while the Friars are 6-7 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
Miami leads the all-time series with the Friars 14-4, including a six-game win streak which dates back to the 1995-96 season.
Dalia Clarke (Antigua, West Indies) was named BIG EAST Player of the Week, while Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) was named Rookie of the Week. They are the first players on the team to earn the honors this season.
Clarke and Broussard led Miami to a 2-0 week on the road, defeating Boston College (65-59) and St. John’s (67-51) last week.
Broussard leads the team averaging 12.0 points per game, while Clarke leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game.
The Friars are coming off of a 104-49 loss to No. 1 Connecticut Saturday night in Storrs, Conn.
Senior forward, Jen Gombotz leads PC averaging 12.4 points per game.
