Women's Basketball Defeats St. John's, 67-51

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Dalia Clarke (Antigua, West Indies) led the University of Miami women’s basketball team with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 67-51 BIG EAST victory over St. John’s Saturday afternoon in Jamaica, NY.
Miami improves to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the BIG EAST, St. John’s falls to 5-9 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
Clarke earned her second double-double of the season in the win. Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) followed Clarke with 16 points in 18 minutes of action.
Miami led 31-26 at halftime after shooting 48.0% in the first half.
The Red Storm cut Miami’s lead to four with 17:44 left to play in the game. UM went on a 6-0 run to widen the lead and eventually take the win.
The Hurricanes outrebounded SJU 45-36. Miami shot 42.3% for the game, compared to 34.5% for the Red Storm.
Miami now owns a 13-6 all-time lead over SJU.
The Hurricanes are back in action Wednesday night at 7 p.m. as they play host to Providence in Knight Sports Complex.
