Women's Basketball Faces Virginia Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team will travel to face BIG EAST opponent Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m.

The game will be televised live on Fox SportsNet Florida, Home Team Sports and the Empire Sports Network.

Miami enters the contest 7-4 overall and 0-1 in BIG EAST play, while the Hokies are 9-4 overall and 0-2 in conference.

This will be the first meeting between Miami and the newest member of the BIG EAST conference, VT.

Miami is currently on its longest win-streak of the season, with three consecutive wins.

The Hurricanes are coming off of an 83-48 victory over Radford. Sheila James (Ruboina, Fla.) scored a career-high of 28 points in the win, while teammate Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) dished out a career-high of 10 assists.

James now leads the team in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game.

VT is coming off of an 75-64 loss to #3 Notre Dame.

Senior forward, Tere Williams leads the Hokies with 15.0 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

VT was picked fifth in the BIG EAST pre-season polls, while Miami was picked to finish ninth in conference.
