Women's Basketball Knocks Off New Hampshire, 70-61

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team earned a spot in the title game of the Gatorade Holiday Classic with a 70-61 victory the Wildcats of New Hampshire on Thursday night.
Miami (5-4) will face Western Michigan (2-7) at 9 p.m. Friday night in Knight Sports Complex, while New Hampshire (3-7) and George Mason (7-3) face off in the consolation game at 7 p.m.
Sophomore Amanda Papuga (Oak Brook, Ill.) came off of the bench to lead Miami with a game-high 17 points. Senior Dalia Clarke (Antigua, West Indies) and sophomore Alicia Hartlaub (Schaefferstown, Pa.) also came off of the bench to score in double figures, with 14 and 10 points respectively.
Miami led 43-29 at halftime after shooting 50.0% from field in the first half.New Hampshire had its only (4-2) lead of the game with 16:04 left to play in the first half, before Miami went on a 14-2 run to take the lead. The Hurricanes went on a series of runs in the remainder of the half to secure the 14-point lead at halftime.
The Wildcats cut Miami’s lead to three points with 4:10 to play in the game, but that was the closest they would come. The Hurricanes went on an 11-0 run to secure the lead and the win.
