Women's Basketball Defeats South Florida, 73-51

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) scored 14 points to lead the University of Miami women’s basketball team to a 73-51 victory over visiting South Florida Saturday night in Knight Sports Complex.
Miami improves to 3-3 overall, while the Bulls fall to 2-6. The Hurricanes lead the all-time series 26-10.
Sheila James (Rubonia, Fla.) added 13 points, including shooting a perfect six-of-six from the free throw line.
Kathryn Fowler (East Elmhurst, N.Y.) came off of the bench to pick up the first double-double of the season for a UM player. She scored 12 points and added 12 rebounds in 25 minutes of action.
The Bulls took a 7-6 lead early in the game (14:07) but never led again.
Miami put together a series of runs led by Fowler’s 12 first half points, which put the Hurricanes up by 17 at halftime (37-20).
USF used a second half surge led by Denetrice Stinson’s 20 second half points to get within nine points with 3:53 remaining in the game.
The Hurricanes answered back with a 15-2 run to end the game.
Stinson came off the bench to lead the Bulls with 26 points in 24 minutes.
UM outrebounded the Bulls 41-29. USF shot 40.5% from the field while UM shot 40.3% for the game.
The Hurricanes are back in action Tuesday night as they play host to Kentucky at 7 p.m. in Knight Sports Complex.
