Women's Basketball Falls To FIU

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team fell 78-48 to Florida International Saturday night in Golden Panther Arena.
Miami falls to 2-3 on the season, while FIU improves to 5-1 overall.
UM leads the all-time series 29-17, this marks the first time in school history that the Golden Panthers beat the Hurricanes by a margin of 30 points.
FIU took a nine-point lead into the locker room at halftime (38-29). The Hurricanes managed to cut the lead to five points with 16:07 remaining in the game, which was the closest UM would come. FIU answered back with a 9-0 run to secure the win.
UM was led in scoring by Camilla Osth (Sodertalje, Sweden) with 12 points and Amanda Papuga (Oak Brook, Ill.) with 10.
The Hurricanes shot 31.7% for the game compared to 43.1% for FIU. The Golden Panthers outrebounded UM 55-31.
The Hurricanes are back in action Saturday night at 7 p.m. as they play host to South Florida.
