Women's Basketball Faces FIU Saturday Night

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team will travel to face cross-town rival Florida International Saturday at 6 p.m. in Golden Panther Arena.

Miami enters the contest 2-2 overall, while FIU is 4-1 overall, including a three-game winning streak.

This will be the 46th meeting between the two teams, Miami leads the all-time series 29-16, including a two-game winning streak.

The Hurricanes fell Tuesday night 77-53 to No. 1 Connecticut in the BIG EAST opener for both teams. Freshman Chanivia Broussard (Miami, Fla.) led UM with 15 points.

She also led the team in scoring with 18 points in the win over St. Bonaventure, and currently leads the team in scoring averaging 11.3 points per game.

Sophomore Meghan Saake (Wellington, Fla.) leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game.

Gergana Slavcheva leads FIU averaging 16.8 points per game, while Cheryl Moody leads the team with 9.4 rebounds.

The game will be broadcast live on WVUM (90.5 FM).
