Women's Basketball Host No.1 Connecticut Tuesday Night

CORAL GABLES, Fla.–The University of Miami women’s basketball team will open up BIG EAST action as they play host No. 1 Connecticut Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Knight Sports Complex.
Miami enters the contest with a 2-1 record, while the defending National Champions are a perfect 4-0.
UConn leads the all-time series with Miami 13-5, including a 13-game winning streak. Miami is 3-0 in BIG EAST season openers at home.
The Hurricanes defeated visiting St. Bonaventure 71-51 Saturday night. Freshman Chanivia Broussard came off of the bench to lead UM in scoring with 18 points in 16 minutes of action.
Sheila James leads the UM offense averaging 11.0 points per game. Broussard is a close second averaging 10.0 points per game.
The Huskies have beaten all four opponents of the 2000-01 season by a margin of 27 or more points. Including a 90-63 victory over George Washington Wednesday night.
Svetlana Abrosimova leads the Huskies with 17.8 points. Three other Huskies are averaging in double digits, Tamika Williams (12.0), Asjha Jones (11.3) and Swin Cash (11.3).
