Women's Basketball Wins Second Exhibition, 74-52

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The University of Miami women’s basketball team won its second and final exhibition game of the 2000-01 season 74-52 Thursday evening, defeating Dynamo Kiev at Knight Sports Complex.
The Hurricanes were led by sophomore forward Alicia Hartlaub (Schaefferstown, Pa.), who scored 14, points and grabbed four rebounds.
Three other UM players scored in double figures, led by senior center Camilla Osth (Sodertalje, Sweden) with 13 points.
Senior guard Dalia Clarke (Antigua, West Indies) scored 11 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
Sophomore guard Amanda Papuga (Oak Brook, Ill.) scored 10 points and picked up six boards.
Tatum Brown scored 19 points for Dynamo Kiev, which had no other players in double figures. Tatum also pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, including 13 defensive boards.
UM shot 38 percent for the game and led 49-29 at halftime en route to the 74-52 win.
The Hurricanes out rebounded Dynamo Kiev, 50-33. UM scored 27 points off of 26 turnovers for the Ukraine team.
Dynamo Kiev falls to 0-10, they will face Connecticut Saturday night in Storrs, Conn.
The Hurricanes now look toward their season opener, Nov. 20 versus Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. in Knight Sports Complex.
