Women's Basketball Plays First Exhibition Of The 2000-01 Season

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will take on the All Star Girls Report on Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in an exhibition game in the Knight Sports Complex on UM’s campus. Admission is free.
Miami returns nine letterwinners, including four starters from last years 14-15 club.
The Hurricanes will be led this season by 5-5 junior guard Sheila James. She enters this season eager to improve on a sophomore season in which she led the team in scoring, averaging 11.7 points per game.
Head coach Ferne Labati enters her 13th season at the helm of the Hurricane basketball program. Labati is the all-time winningest women’s basketball coach at Miami with a record of 218-132 (.623).
Miami opens the regular season on Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. against Florida Atlantic in the Knight Sports Complex.
