Miami Continues Practice For Virginia Tech Game

Nov. 1, 2000

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The third-ranked Miami Hurricanes continued preparing for Saturday’s clash with second-ranked Virginia Tech with the second two-hour practice session of the week Wednesday afternoon at the Greentree Practice Field on the University of Miami campus. The Hurricanes host the Hokies Saturday at Noon in a nationally televised game (CBS) with kickoff slated for 12:10 p.m.

Head coach Butch Davis’s post-practice discussion with the media centered on speculation about the health of Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Vick and UM linebacker Dan Morgan. Morgan practiced again Wednesday while media speculation continued to swirl about the status of Vick. Davis said the Hurricanes couldn’t afford to alter their plans for the game depending on Vick’s health.

“It’s not something that would be in our best interests for a variety of reasons,” said head coach Butch Davis. “The main reason is that, whether (Vick) starts or plays or does not, you can’t redirect your game plan because they will stick with what they always do. We wouldn’t want to change our defensive game plan even if Dan Morgan cannot play.”

The Hurricanes continue practice Thursday afternoon at Greentree at 3:30 p.m. All practices are closed to the public.
