Women's Soccer Falls To Florida State 3-1

Coral Gables, Fla. (www.hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s soccer team (9-9-1) was defeated, 3-1, by Florida State (12-5-1) in its regular season finale at Cobb Stadium on the UM campus.
The Hurricanes will now play No. 1 Notre Dame in the first round of the eight-team BIG EAST Championship on Sunday, October 29 at Alumni Field in South Bend, IN. Florida State returns home to face Virginia in its regular season finale on Oct. 28.
The Seminoles got on the scoreboard first in the 18th minute when Emma Breland tapped in a rebound off a Summer Corum shot that deflected off UM goalkeeper Elizabeth Swinson.
After taking a 1-0 lead into halftime, FSU came out strong in the second half adding its second goal in the 55th minute on a Marte Vik Edvardsen shot from Cindy Schofield.
FSU then made the score 3-0 in the 70th minute when Vik Edvardsen added her second goal of the evening, unassisted.
Miami thwarted the shutout when Deidre Bass headed in a corner kick from Lisa Gomez at 88:20. The goal was Bass’ fourth of the season, while the assist was Gomez’ team-high 10th.
The Hurricanes out-shot FSU in the match 19-16 and also held the advantage on corner kicks 10-9.
The game against Florida State was also Senior Night. UM’s lone senior, Kazmeen Moolchan, was honored prior to the start of the game. Moolchan was one of the Hurricanes inaugural members in 1998.
