Women's Basketball Eases Past Florida Atlantic, 89-73

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s basketball team(4-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) won it’s fourth game of the season, it’s first on theroad with a 89-73 victory over Florida Atlantic (1-3, 0-0 TAAC) tonight atthe FAU Gymnasium in Boca Raton.
UM and the Owls traded the lead for the first ten minutes of thegame before the ‘Canes went on a 12-2 run to take a 38-22 lead. AlthoughFAU battled back with a 6-1 run shortly thereafter, UM took a 13-point leadinto halftime. The Hurricanes maintained a double-digit lead throughout thesecond-half, leading by as much as 20 at one point.
Sophomore Sheila James‘ led the Hurricanes with 15 points. She wasjoined by four other Hurricanes who scored in double-figures includingcareer-highs performances by Camilla Osth (13), Kathryn Fowler (14) and DonaNando (11). Senior guard Gina Graziani finished with 12.
FAU had was led by Sheridan Andrew’s 21 points while Rita Mosley andKristy Halvorsen finished with 18 and 19 points, respectively.
The Hurricanes return to action on Dec. 19 at 2:00 p.m. when theyface North Carolina State in the Orange Bowl Fab Four at FloridaInternational.
