Kevin Crum Jr. joined the University of Miami as the Learning Learning Specialist for the Athletic Academic Services Department in the Summer of 2019. Mr. Crum has an extensive background of promoting and achieving high academic performance from student-athletes as a classroom teacher, athletic coach and academic coach, and sports administrator at the high school and collegiate levels. Before arriving at the University of Miami, Crum was the academic coach at Edward Waters College within the department of Teacher Education and Urban Studies Department. Crum’s duties were counseling and advising students and student-athletes on academic, career and personal issues and developing educational and career goals. Before arriving at Edward Waters College, Crum was the assistant men’s basketball coach at Talladega College. He was responsible for monitoring and managing the academic progress of the men’s basketball team, which earned a 2.9 GPA and Dean’s Honor Roll recognition for 20% of the basketball student-athletes.
Additionally, Crum served several years as a classroom teacher, athletic coach, and athletic director at high schools in Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. He earned a master’s degree in Sports Administration from Tennessee State University. He earned a B.S. in Physical Education from Lane College, where he was a member of the 2005 SIAC Men’s Basketball Conference Championship team. Crum is a full-time single father of his eleven-year-old daughter Zamorah.
