Dr. Felecia Theune
Dr. Felecia Theune started full-time with UM Athletics in 2017 but has worked part-time in Academic Services since 2012.
She provides academic support for student-athletes who compete in Olympic Sports and coordinates the Mentor Program designed to facilitate successful student transition into college. Her responsibilities include developing and providing resources to ensure optimal academic achievement, and evaluating the department’s support programs to assess strengths and areas of needed improvement. She also teaches undergraduate courses for the UM Department of Sociology.
Dr. Theune received a Ph.D. in 2017 from UM in Sociology, with a focus in Race/Ethnicity and Social Change and Well-being through Education. She maintains an active research agenda and has published articles pertaining to Title IX in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Theune holds a master’s degree in Community and Social Change from UM and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia. She and her husband, Demetrius, have one daughter named Sarah.
