Nine Hurricanes Named to All-ACC Academic Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes football team set a program record Monday when nine student-athletes were named to the 2020 All-ACC Academic Football Team.

The nine selections best the previous school record of eight, which was set in 2006.

Jose Borregales (liberal studies), Bubba Bolden (sociology), Amari Carter (public administration), DJ Ivey (sociology), Clay James (sport administration), D’Eriq King (liberal studies), Jaelan Phillips (motion pictures production), Quincy Roche (liberal studies) and Jarrid Williams (liberal studies) were among those student-athletes recognized with academic honors from the conference.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

All 15 ACC Football member institutions were represented on the team; Miami’s nine selections were tied with Clemson for second-most in the conference, trailing only Duke’s 11.

The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football Team every year since 1954. The team was chosen from a pool of ACC football student-athletes who were nominated by their schools.
