Mompremier Signs with Connecticut Sun
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Former University of Miami women’s basketball star Beatrice Mompremier has inked a free agent contract with the WNBA’s Connecticut Sun, as announced Tuesday morning.
A 6-foot-4 forward, Mompremier will join the 2019 WNBA finalists in advance of the abbreviated 2020 WNBA season, set to take place at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
One of six players in Miami history to hear her name called in the WNBA Draft, Mompremier is the third active Hurricane in the league, alongside Minnesota’s Shenise Johnson and Los Angeles’ Riquna Williams.
Mompremier was a two-time Associated Press Honorable Mention at Miami and ended her two-year Hurricane career with 45 double-digit point performances and 34 double-doubles in just 51 outings. The 2019-20 ACC Preseason Player of the Year, Mompremier owns the program record for career (11.4) and single-season (12.2) rebounding average.
A Miami native, Mompremier claimed five ACC Player of the Week awards during her time in Coral Gables. She concluded her Hurricane career averaging 16.7 points per game and garnered Lisa Leslie Center of the Year finalist standing in both of her seasons with the team.
