Men’s Tennis Skyrockets into Top 20
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the latest computer-generated edition of the 2020 Oracle/ITA national rankings list, the University of Miami men’s tennis team jumped up 13 spots and checks in at No. 20 in the country, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the ITA.
After extending its win streak to five matches, Miami (9-2, 2-0 ACC) has garnered its highest national ranking since Jan. 26, 2010, when the Hurricanes also placed No. 20.
Competing in two conference matches since the last team rankings were released on Feb. 18, the Hurricanes swept then-No. 45 Clemson, 7-0, before earning a 4-2 victory over then-No. 38 Georgia Tech.
Overall, the Canes are one of eight ACC teams in the rankings this week, including second-ranked North Carolina, ninth-ranked NC State, No. 15 Florida State, No. 17 Wake Forest, No. 37 Virginia, No. 40 Clemson and No. 46 Georgia Tech.
The Hurricanes will return to action on March 8, when they host aforementioned Florida State at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center at noon.
