Several Hurricanes in Action on Day 3

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Several Miami Hurricanes were in action Friday on the third day of competition at the 2020 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.

Less than 24 hours after posting a top-10 time in program history in the 50-yard freestyle, sophomore Zorry Mason was again Miami’s top performer in the lanes Thursday morning. The Louisville, Ky., native posted an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 1:00.76 in the 100-yard breaststroke during preliminaries, tying Nina Kucheran of Florida State for the ninth-fastest time in the field.

Junior Alaina Skellett opened the day’s action with a time of 55.17 in the 100-yard butterfly, narrowly missing out on a berth in the night’s finals. Sophomore Maddie Lauther (57.09) also competed in the same event.

Freshmen Andrea Todorovic (4:25.44) and Isabel Traba (4:27.76) posted Miami’s top times in the 400-yard IM during the morning’s preliminary rounds, while juniors Carmen San Nicolas (1:49.21) and Sydney Knapp (1:49.23) came just short of qualifying for Friday night’s finals in the 200-yard freestyle. Senior co-captain Manon Viguier posted a time of 1:50.50 in the 200 free.

Mason will compete in the finals of the 100-yard breaststroke Thursday night, while Miami’s men’s diving contingent will also compete in the platform event.
