CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s basketball team will be back in action on New Year’s Eve, following a nine-day hiatus.

After concluding non-conference action, Miami (8-3, 0-1 ACC) is set for its first of 19 straight league games with an outing against Clemson at 4 p.m. at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C.

The contest will be broadcast live on ACC Network HERE, with Steve Schlanger and Dan Bonner on the call. Joe Zagacki will have the radio broadcast on 560 The Joe WQAM HERE and live stats for the game will be available HERE.

Miami is 12-14 all-time against Clemson, including 2-8 on the road and 6-3 under the guidance of ninth-year head coach Jim Larrañaga. In the most recent meeting between the two sides, Zach Johnson hit a jump-shot with 0.4 seconds remaining to give the Hurricanes a 65-64 home triumph on Feb. 17, 2019.

Additionally, Miami owns a 3-1 record on New Year’s Eve. The Hurricanes are 1-0 under Coach L, 1-0 in ACC play and 1-0 on the road. Their prior Dec. 31 outings came in 2016 (win), 2008 (win), 2005 (loss) and 1997 (win).

In its last outing, Miami set a program record with 18 made 3-pointers and logged its largest victory of the year, a 31-point decision over Coppin State, 91-60, Dec. 21 at the Watsco Center. Redshirt junior Kameron McGusty totaled a career-high 28 points on 9-of-11 shooting, en route to Co-ACC Player of the Week accolades.

Senior guard Dejan Vasiljevic scored 21 points and went 8-of-8 at the free throw line, while junior guard Chris Lykes posted 16 points. Redshirt junior forward Sam Waardenburg notched his first double-double with a career-best 15 points and career-high-tying 11 rebounds.

Clemson enters Tuesday’s game at 6-6 (0-2 ACC) thus far in 2019-20. Junior forward Aamir Simms is the team’s leader in both points (12.6) and rebounds (7.7) per game. After going 20-14 (9-9) and reaching the second round of the NIT last year, Clemson was voted No. 11 in the ACC preseason poll.

Following its matchup with the Tigers, Miami returns home to open the new decade by hosting No. 4/3 Duke Jan. 4 at the Watsco Center, live on ESPN, with tipoff set for 3 p.m. or 8 p.m.
