The Hurricanes are coming off an exhilarating 78-77 victory over Temple Tuesday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Junior guard Chris Lykes, who claimed game MVP honors, iced the win with two free throws in the closing seconds and finished with 17 points, a season-high six assists and a career-best five steals.
For the second straight game, five Hurricanes notched double-digit points, with redshirt senior forward Keith Stone’s 13 the second-highest mark on the team. Redshirt junior center Rodney Miller, Jr., posted 11 points a career-high-tying nine rebounds in his home state, while senior guard Dejan Vasiljevic added 11 points, surpassing 1,000 in his career, and eight boards.
The Eagles head into Saturday’s contest at 4-8 (0-0 MEAC) on the season. Redshirt senior guard Kamar McKnight is the team’s leading scorer at 15.8 points per game. Following an 8-25 (7-9) campaign in 2018-19, Coppin State was picked seventh in the MEAC preseason poll.
