Golf Closes Out Fall at Jim West Challenge

CORAL GABLES, Fla.  – The University of Miami golf team returns to action on Sunday when the team travels to San Marcos, Texas, to begin competition at the Jim West Challenge. This year’s event will take place at the par 72, 6,033-yard Kissing Tree Golf Club.

The tournament will consist of 54 holes over a two-day stretch, with tee times set to begin at 9:30 a.m. ET each day. The teams will play 36 holes on Sunday and 18 holes on Monday.

A quintet of Hurricanes, senior Renate Grimstad, junior Kristyna Frydlova, sophomore Anna Backman and freshmen Daniella Barrett and Franziska Sliper, will make the trip with Miami grouping up with student-athletes from Kansas State and Notre Dame.

Last season, the Hurricanes finished ninth as a team at the event, with Grimstad carding a career-low nine-under 207 to finish second among individuals.

This season, the Hurricanes will square off against a trio of top-25 teams, No. 15 Ole Miss, No. 22 Houston and No. 25 Florida State, along with a pair of programs among the top-50, No. 32 Oklahoma and No. 44 Texas A&M.
