Hurricanes Wrap Up Trip to Dallas, SMU Classic
DALLAS — The Miami Hurricanes wrapped up their run at the SMU Classic Saturday afternoon at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.
The Hurricanes finished with 230 points to finish fifth in the two-day event on the campus of the host Mustangs.
After senior Claire McGinnis opened Saturday with a time of 5:04.01 in the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Zorry Mason took fourth in 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:15.52.
Junior Alaina Skellett posted a time of 2:00.93 in the 200-yard backstroke, while junior Carmen San Nicolas continued her strong weekend with a time of 50.41 in the 100-yard freestyle.
After Mason took second with a time of 1:59.90 in her signature 200-yard IM event, the Hurricanes’ entry in the 200-yard freestyle event- comprised of junior Sydney Knapp, San Nicolas, Skellett and Mason – finished third with a time of 1:32.92.
Sophomore Millie Haffety was fourth in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 268.70.
The Hurricanes continue their fall slate next Friday (Oct. 18) with a meet against host Navy that includes Johns Hopkins, Towson and George Washington.
