Miami Heads North to Take on Boston College

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami soccer team is set to battle Boston College Thursday at 7 p.m. at Newton Campus Lacrosse and Soccer Field.
 
“We have to start fast. We have to be aggressive, understand risk vs. reward and work our game plan, regardless of their pressure or what’s happening in the game,” Miami head coach Sarah Barnes said when asked about the mindset needed heading into Thursday’s contest.

This match will mark the 18th time the Canes have faced Boston College, with the Eagles leading the overall series, 11-3-3. When the teams last met on Oct. 13, 2018, Miami tied the eighth-ranked Eagles, 1-1, at Cobb Stadium.
 
The Canes enter this season’s contest with a 3-3-1 overall record and 0-1-0 mark in the ACC, coming up short in the ACC opener against then-No. 18 Virginia Tech, 2-0.
 
This season, nine different Hurricanes have registered at least one goal, with a quintet of Canes tallying a pair. Junior forward Tia Dupont leads the attack for the Hurricanes with eight points (two goals, four assists), while senior forward Kristina Fisher has notched a team-high 15 shots and has six points (two goals, two assists).
 
Boston College is 7-1-1 (0-1-0 ACC) on the season, most recently dropping a back-and-forth contest with sixth-ranked Florida State, 5-4.
 
Following Thursday’s match, the Hurricanes will welcome Pittsburgh to Cobb Stadium Sunday at 7 p.m. The match will air live on the ACC Network.
