Miami Wraps Up Play in South Carolina and Princeton
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Split between a pair of fall tournaments, the Farnsworth Ivy-Plus in Princeton, N.J., and the Gamecock Fall Invitational in Columbia, S.C., the University of Miami men’s tennis team wrapped up the weekend with a trio of championship matches.
In the first doubles match to complete, senior Dane Dunlap and junior Bojan Jankulovski came up short against South Carolina’s Phillip Jordan and Connor Thomson, 8-4, in one of three main draw doubles championship matches.
In the Garnet Doubles main draw, sophomore teammates Franco Aubone and Francisco Bastias fell against Texas’ Yuya Ito and Siem Woldeab, 8-4.
In the back draw title match, juniors Benjamin Hannestad and Adria Soriano Barrera secured an 8-4 victory over Wake Forest’s Brant Fenno and Solomon Yuval.
In the singles title match, No. 21 Soriano Barrera dropped his match against No. 35 Daniel Rodrigues of tournament-host South Carolina, 1-6, 3-6.
The Hurricanes will return to action on Friday, when Miami competes in the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga.
