Rowing Ready For Lake Wheeler Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla.– The University of Miami women’s rowing team is back in the water at the Lake Wheeler Invitational in Raleigh, N.C. 
 
Five Hurricane boats will be competing at the Lake Wheeler Invitational this year. For the two-day regatta, there will be a total of nine teams competing including Clemson University, Duke University, Georgetown University, Michigan State University, Temple University, University of Central Florida, University of North Carolina, and the US Naval Academy. 
 
“Our squad is looking forward to another weekend of strong competition at the inaugural Wheeler Invite Regatta.  All the boats will race three times providing each crew the opportunity to develop their racing through the weekend.”

On Friday afternoon, all five Hurricane boats will be racing out of Lane 1 against Duke University and Clemson University in the first heat of each race. Miami’s First Varsity 8 is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. The Second Varsity 8 is up next, racing at 5:06 p.m. and the First Varsity 4 is right after, racing at 5:42 p.m. The Third Varsity 8 makes their first appearance in the water at 6:18 p.m. Lastly, the Second Varsity 4 will begin their race at 6:54 p.m. 
 
On Saturday, the Canes will be back in action for the Wheeler Invite semi-finals and finals. After the Friday races, the lanes, teams, and times of each competition will be released.  
 
On May 17, Miami will take part in the ACC Rowing Championships in Clemson, S.C., while the NCAA Rowing Championships are slated for May 31-June 2 in Indianapolis, Ind. For a complete look at Miami’s schedule, click here.
