W. Tennis Meets No. 19 Virginia on Senior Day
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team is set to host No. 19 Virginia Saturday at noon in its last outing of the regular season.
No. 25 Miami (15-6, 8-5 ACC) will recognize its two seniors, Ana Madcur and Daniella Roldan, prior to the contest and fans are encouraged to arrive early for the senior day ceremony.
Live stats for the match will be available HERE. The first 50 fans in attendance will receive a free visor from the marketing table, located near the main entrance.
The Hurricanes head into the regular season finale with one ranked singles player, as junior Estela Perez-Somarriba comes in at second nationally. It is the top mark for a Miami player since Audra Cohen capped the 2007 campaign at first overall.
Miami also sports one ranked doubles duo, with Roldan and freshman Daevenia Achong forming the No. 20 pair in the country.
The Hurricanes own a 17-6 all-time record against Virginia, including an 11-1 ledger at home, with the lone defeat coming in 1998. Miami has won 11 of the past 14 matchups, but most recently dropped a 5-2 road decision on March 23, 2018.
Virginia is 16-6 (8-5 ACC) and has a trio of ranked singles players, led by Meghan Kelley at No. 24 on the Oracle/ITA list. She is followed by Amber O’Dell at No. 90 and Chloe Gullickson at No. 116.
In doubles, the Cavaliers have two ranked pairs, paced by Kelley and Sofia Munera at No. 18 overall. Gullickson and O’Dell follow them at No. 68 nationally.
After facing Virginia, Miami will head to Cary, N.C., for the ACC Championship, opening play April 18. The Hurricanes will be the fifth seed if they beat the Cavaliers and would be the sixth or seventh seed with a defeat.
