CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Nine Miami Track and Field seniors will be honored at this weekend’s Hurricane Alumni Invitational as the Canes host their final home meet of the 2019 outdoor season.

The two-day meet will feature the No. 10 Miami women against ACC foes North Carolina and Syracuse along with LSU’s No. 6 men’s program and No. 5 women’s team, plus many more.

Both Michelle Atherley and Andreas Christodoulou will compete in their first heptathlon and decathlon respective events of the outdoor season beginning on Friday. Atherley currently holds Miami’s program record in the heptathlon with 5,816 points, a mark she set last season at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Christodoulou boasts Miami’s second-best mark in the decathlon with 7,334 points, just 89 behind the top mark.

The pair will begin the meet’s events with Atherley starting the day off in the 100m hurdles at 11 a.m., and Christodoulou in the 110m hurdles at 11:45 a.m. The pair will end the day on the track in the 200m dash and 400m run, respectively.

Five Miami women will compete in the women’s discus on Saturday scheduled for 2 p.m., with senior Zakiya Rashid leading the Canes with her mark of 55.68m. The field events will conclude at 6 p.m. in the women’s triple jump where Peyton Russell and Darlene Charles will represent the Canes.

Miami’s women currently boast the NCAA’s third-fastest time in the 4x100m relay, but will run a different group as Carolyn Brown, Amuru Patterson, Symone Mason and Tiara McMinn will take the track at 3 p.m. The men made up of Raheem Chamber, Tyrees Moulton, Isaiah Taylor and Chauncy Smart will immediately follow.

Christodoulou, Rashid, Brown and Taylor will be joined by Anne den Otter, Sean Hagert, Samantha Gonzalez, Anna Runia and Celine Thompson, as the nine student-athletes will be honored for their contributions to the Miami track and field program at 6:10 p.m., during the women’s 5,000m run.

The 2019 Women’s Indoor ACC Championship team will also be recognized at 7:15 p.m., during the men’s 5,000m run, followed by the recognition of Atherley’s NCAA Pentathlon gold-medal performance.

Miami’s final home meet will conclude with the men’s 4x400m relay at 7:50 p.m., as two Canes’ teams will compete. McKinly Brown, Thomas Burns, Moulton and Davonte Fuller will make up the A team, while Paul Spada, Eric Labardor, Luca Bhalla, and Jared Lee will be featured on the B team.
