Miami Sits at No. 24 Nationally

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – In the third consecutive computer-generated edition of the 2019 Oracle/ITA national rankings list, the University of Miami men’s tennis team cracks the country’s top-25 list, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the ITA.

Miami (15-6. 6-2 ACC) ranks No. 24 and for first time since the end of the 2009 season are listed among the nation’s 25 best teams for the third straight week. That year, Miami was ranked from April 7 through the end of the season, while also reaching the NCAA Team Championship Sweet 16.

Last week, the Hurricanes came up short in doubles action at Louisville, and were unable to complete the comeback in singles, ultimately dropping the match, 4-0.

Miami will look to rebound in the upcoming regular season home finales, as it will welcome No. 43 Virginia Tech to the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on Friday at 2 p.m., before battling fifth-ranked Virginia Sunday at noon.

Overall, the Canes are one of eight ACC teams in the rankings this week, including third-ranked Wake Forest, fifth-ranked Virginia, No. 11 North Carolina, No. 21 NC State, No. 22 Notre Dame, No. 31 Florida State, No. 43 Virginia Tech and No. 49 Georgia Tech.

Individually, a pair of sophomores sit among the top 100 in singles, with Adria Soriano Barrera ranking No. 36 and Bojan Jankulovski coming it at No. 91.
