W. Tennis Caps Weekend with No. 31 Georgia Tech

CORAL GABLES, Fla. Following a doubleheader sweep on its home courts Friday, the University of Miami women’s tennis team returns to action Sunday morning at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

No. 27 Miami (10-3, 3-2 ACC) will square off with No. 31 Georgia Tech at 10 a.m. The match will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra HERE and live stats are accessible HERE.

The Hurricanes feature one ranked singles player, as junior Estela Perez-Somarriba places second, the highest mark by a Hurricane since the end of the 2007 season.

In addition, Miami has three doubles duos in the Oracle/ITA rankings, led by Perez-Somarriba and freshman Daevenia Achong at No. 35. Achong also places No. 44 with Daniella Roldan, while the senior checks in at No. 60 too, alongside sophomore Ulyana Shirokova.

Miami is an even 12-12 all-time against Georgia Tech, including 5-3 in home affairs. The Hurricanes are 7-1 in the past eight meetings, including tallying a 4-3 road decision over the then-sixth-ranked Yellow Jackets last season on March 14, 2018.

Coming off an NCAA Team Championship Final Four appearance last year, Georgia Tech is 6-7 (3-3 ACC) on the season.

Checking in at No. 11 in the country, Kenya Jones is the only Yellow Jackets ranked in singles. In addition, she joins Jeanette Lin at No. 73 on the doubles list as the team’s lone ranked pair.

After taking on the Yellow Jackets, Miami heads to Raleigh, N.C., where it faces No. 12 NC State March 22 at 3 p.m.
