Cheerleaders and Sunsations Dance Team

Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we will be canceling our Sunsations Dance Team clinic on March 17th and our Cheer open practices on March 24th and April 1st. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We hope everyone remains healthy and safe! Please check in to our Instagram accounts (@um_sunsations & @u_cheer) for future updates regarding the remaining clinics and tryouts.

Cheerleaders

The University of Miami has a long tradition of cheerleading since its founding in 1925. With five National Championships in football, and countless Bowl and NCAA Basketball Tournament appearances, the spirit program has been a vital part of the athletic programs at UM.

The cheerleading program at Miami consists of two teams, the coed team with 12- 15 members and the all-girl team which is made up of 15- 18 females. The teams cheer on the sidelines at football games and men’s and women’s basketball games, as well as volleyball games. Cheerleaders may also travel to away football games and post-season play, for both football and basketball.

The Sunsations will be competing at UDA Nationals in 2020.
